Winter Warmer Beer Festival January 23, 2010 @ 3:00pm Need something to Shake Up the Winter Blahs Join us for the 3rd Annual Winter Warmer Beer Festival! This event will be held again at Haywood Park's Grand Ballroom. Executive chef and general manager, Tres Hundertmark, of The Lobster Trap - placed sixth in the 2009 National Oyster Shucking Championship in Maryland. He shucked 24 oysters in 2 minutes and 6 seconds, with a net time of 3 minutes and 29 seconds because of time added on for penalties. Hundertmark, who was the Charleston Oyster Roast shucking champion in 2008 and 2009, will attempt to beat the Guinness world record for most oysters opened in a minute at the Winter Warmer beer festival! Rhododendron Show May 1, 2010 The American Rhododendron Society?s Southeastern Chapter will host its annual show at The North Carolina Arboretum. Hundreds of blooms will be displayed at the Education Center during the show, including many favorite mountain plants. Azaleas as well as spring and summer blooming rhododendrons are among the most popular. Trail Walks to the National Native Azalea Repository will be offered. 7th Annual Montford Music & Arts Festival May 22, 2010 The annual Montford Music and Art Festival will take place in the NPS-designated Montford Area Historic District on May 15. The festival celebrates the rich musical and artistic heritage found in Montford, Asheville, and the region with approximately 4,000 annual attendees. All musical acts have some connection to Montford and a number of the vendors do as well. The festival is promoted in celebration of Preservation Month by the Buncombe County Historic Resources Commission.
Garden Jubilee Festival May 29-30, 2010 Garden Jubilee offers over 125 vendors selling handmade arts and crafts, plants and items to enhance your outdoor living area. Nurseries selling many varieties of annuals, perennials, vegetables, trees, shrubs, and hard to find plants will be located on every block of the festival. There will also be delicious food to satisfy any appetite. Vendors will be located on the wide sidewalks of Historic Downtown Hendersonville from Sixth Avenue to Second Avenue. Main Street will be closed to traffic from Second Avenue to Caswell Street, with vendors lining both sides of the street.
